North East schools and groups are invited to take part in three free creative projects designed to help schools engage children and young people in activities which inspire them to speak, share and express themselves in different languages through music and song, writing and art. These activities are open for schools to get involved in from January into March. They can be done as classroom activities, as well as at engaging families at home or in communities.

8 January-18th March
North East schools and groups are invited to sign, sign, play, perform and film different language versions of the song Happy, by Pharrell Williams. A compilation of performances will be shared. Resources, including music and singing arrangements and translations are on Charanga (and free 30-day trial available).
8th January-22nd March
Children and young people (7-18) in North East schools and community schools are invited to share poems/songs in their home language or write an original piece of poetry in a language they are learning. Certificates for all. An e-book anthology will include selected pieces.
8th January-6th March
North East schools, colleges and groups can create and submit colourful origami birds, with messages of peace written in English or any other languages, as part of a regional exhibition in Durham. Instructions available and guidance video for educators to run the activities.
