Get involved in the Big 3 – Festival song, Mother Tongue Other Tongue creative writing activity and our poster competition: open now for 7-18 year olds, schools and communities!

The Big 3 are activities which children and young people aged 7-18 can get involved in from January, all the way through the Festival period to the end of March 2023.  These three activities are fun and engaging and can be done in school, as well as in family and community settings. Click on the activities below to find out more and get involved.

Just One World – our Festival song can be sung, signed and played and celebrates how we are all connected in Just One World.  A wonderful opportunity for children and young people to sing out loud and perform as part of a regional virtual performance promoting peace and togetherness. Register to access the song, lyrics, recordings and musical arrangements, as well as translations/videos in other languages. The video of the song will be shared after the Festival.

Mother Tongue Other Tongue is a wonderful creative writing project where children and young people are able to express themselves and share their thoughts and feelings in their own language or a language they are learning, sharing their cultures and what matters to them with their schools, families and communities. Selected entries will be published in an e-book anthology at the end of the Festival and all entries receive a certificate.

Where can languages take you? is our poster competition which encourages young people to explore what they think about where languages can take you and inspire others about the importance of learning languages and where they can take you. There will be prizes for submissions across 3 age ranges and certificates for all entries.

There are lots more activities for children and young people and schools in the Festival programme. Click on the links below to find out more and get our Festival poster.
