Just One World is this year’s Festival Song, which children and young people, schools and groups can join in with from this week, up to the end of March. They can sing, sign and play the song and film performances, which will be part of a region-wide virtual performance. It is a celebration of our diversity, how we can stand together and care for the world and sums up what the Festival is all about.

Schools can also request versions of the song sung in different languages, or make their own versions in the languages spoken in their school. For those with international schools links, you may wish to sing, play or perform the song with your partners overseas and in their spoken or signed languages.
The creator of the song and music, Gareth Miller (Music Partnership North) is hosting a drop in session for teachers at 4-5pm on 31st January at Newcastle Civic Centre to introduce the song and how to use the resources. Music Partnership North will support schools and groups in Newcastle and Northumberland and music services and hubs across the region will provide support to their local schools where possible.
Be inspired by performances by the region’s children and young people in the compilation video of last year’s 2022 Festival Song: I am a small part of the world. Over 2000 young people were involved and are inspirational in this uplifting performance.
The Festival song is one of The Big 3, activities that run from January to the end of March. You can also join in:
- Mother Tongue Other Tongue, a celebration of children and young people’s writing in the languages they speak at home or in their community and those they are learning
- Where can languages take you? Poster competition inspiring children and young people to learn languages and explaining the positive impact this can have on their future
