What is the activity?

The Spanish Apprentice is a practical tourism marketing activity using pupil’s skill in presenting and speaking in the Spanish language to promote Bishop Auckland as a tourist destination.

Teams of five Year 10 students from up to 12 schools will work with students from Durham University to complete a variety of Spanish language challenges throughout the day.

The Spanish Apprentice will then culminate in the students delivering their own pitch, in Spanish, to our judging panel, advertising Bishop Auckland as a tourist destination.

Winners will receive a prize, and all students will be able to access The Auckland Project’s attractions throughout the day.

The Spanish Apprentice is an excellent opportunity for Spanish GCSE candidates to practice their Spanish speaking, listening and writing skills with help from Durham University undergraduate students.

This challenge has been running for a number of years, is very popular and has a lasting impact on the students.
