Futbol Lingo WEBINAR for schools

Who is it for?

• Middle and Secondary Schools and their pupils in the North East of England (Key Stage 2-5)
• Schools from outside the North East across the UK are welcome to register for the webinar

When will it happen?

• The webinar will be held on Microsoft Teams at 10.30-11.15am on Friday 6th March.
• The Teams session will be hosted by Newcastle City Council.
• Advance registration is required and schools are asked to join 5-10 minutes before the start of the session.

What is the activity?

This webinar will be led by Futbol Lingo’s founder Pierce Kiembi, a former Modern Foreign Languages teacher turned professional football coach,

The motivational talk will include stories and experiences from around the globe, involving languages and football and to inform pupils about the importance of being able to speak them in this industry.

The webinar aims to your learners’ eyes to the world of languages in the football industry and the multitude of possibilities for football related careers.

We take students on a journey beginning with the history of football, globalisation of the game, influx of overseas talent & the current multi-lingual landscape across the world’s top leagues.

We use real life stories, player/coach examples and other media to inform and inspire.

Schools will have a pupil booklet that can be shared with participants before the webinar and used during the webinar, with questions relating to the topics discussed and around languages and careers.

Schools will join via Teams Live, cameras will be turned off for participants and will not be sharing screens or microphones. There will be a moderated chat facility for pupils to ask questions.

How do I get involved?

Schools should register to participate in the webinar. To register for the activity, email info@expressyourselfne.com with:

• the name of the activity (Futbol Lingo Webinar)
• the lead teacher contact and email address
• the name and address of your school
• the number of children and young people you would like to participate and what Key Stage they are in

This helps us to monitor who is taking part for our reporting requirements.

Registered schools will be sent a confirmation email initially and then sent the joining link and instructions for the webinar at least two weeks in advance, as well as a pupil booklet for use before and during the webinar.

Schools are asked to join 5-10 minutes in advance of the start time of 9.30am to avoid delays.

The session can be accessed from multiple classrooms. Attendees do not share screens or access cameras or microphones, but there will be a moderated Q&A facility for pupils to ask questions via their teachers
