Learn Arabic with songs and games: Arabic Clubs for primary schools – Fully Booked
Two primary schools in the North East have the opportunity to have an Arabic Club delivered in their schools between January and March 2026. The clubs will run once a week for six weeks with a class of children, who will learn Arabic with songs and games.
Registration opens mid-November. Places are limited and schools should register interest before the end of December 2025. The Arabic Club sessions will be arranged directly with the schools who are selected.
Who is it for?
- Two primary schools in the North East Combined Authority area: Newcastle, Northumberland, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Sunderland, Gateshead, Durham
- One class of 30 primary school children in each of the two schools
When will it happen?
- Register interest by the end of December 2025. This activity is now fully booked
- The six sessions will be arranged directly with the two schools selected at dates and times which are convenient. The Arabic Club will run as one session per week for six weeks in each school between January to the end of March.
What is the activity?
This is an exciting opportunity for two primary schools, which will have an Arabic Club delivered as an extra-curricular activity in your school, with one session per week over six weeks for one class each of up to 30 children. Activity will be delivered by a trained, vetted and registered Arabic teacher through the North East Arabic Teaching Council.
Arabic is the 4th the most spoken language in the world after English, Mandarin and Spanish, with over 300 million native speakers. It is the official language of 22 Arab countries and is widely spoken across Africa and Asia. The Arabic Club is an opportunity to broaden children’s cultural awareness and enjoy learning the Arabic language through fun activities.
By taking part in the Arabic Club, children will be introduced, through songs and games, to the Arabic language, including:
- Greetings
- Saying their name and asking what other people’s names are
- Numbers (1-10) and being able to say what age they are and ask others for their age
- Colours (4-5) and being able to say what their favourite colour is and asking others what their favourite colour is
- Understanding basic instructions and directions
- Being able to say please and thank you and expressing enjoyment
How do I get involved?

Register your interest before the end of December by emailing Hassina or Caroline at the North East Arabic Teaching Council languages@s4a.org.uk with the following information:
- The name of the activity (Learn Arabic with songs and games)
- The name and email of the lead school contact
- The name and address of your primary school
- The Year Group and number of children in the class you would like to participate in the Arabic Club
Once all expressions of interest have been received, Caroline or Hassina will be in touch at the start of January 2026 with the outcome. Places are limited to two primary schools.
If you are not successful and would like to learn about funding available to run an Arabic Club in your school, you can let Hassina or Caroline know and they will provide more information.
There will be a Festival Feedback Survey sent out at the end of March for feedback on the activity.

The North East Arabic Teaching Council (North East ATC) is a network of Arabic teachers based in the North East that is funded and supported by the Qatar Foundation International (QFI).
